A convergence of Thanksgiving and the start of Hanukkah is bringing these two holidays together at the table. This rare occurrence won’t happen again for 70,000 years (so you’d better celebrate Thanksgivukkah this year or you’ll miss out!). We’ve compiled a few festive ideas inspired by this unique celebration of two holidays on the same day.
Festive Thanksgivukkah Centerpieces Feature a menorah as the centerpiece of your Thanksgiving dinner table alongside a display of gourds, pumpkins and flowers. Mix traditional Hanukkuh symbols with seasonal decor as well as festive colors representing both holidays. Blues, oranges and golds will create a festive, seasonal tabletop.
New Twist on Traditional Foods
Nothing completes holiday entertaining in style than great food. Thanksgivukkah is inspiring an infusion of seasonal flavors in traditional foods like the Jewish Latke – a traditional Hanukkah favorite. Try a recipe for Sweet Potato-Apple Latkes or Potato Latkes with Cranberry Jam.
The coming together of these two special holidays — Thanksgiving and Hanukkah –more than ever reminds us to give thanks to those who support our community. A contribution to Habitat for Humanity, your local Food Pantry, the Humane Society, or the numerous homeless shelters in our neighborhoods, remembers those in need and emphasizes the true spirit of the season.
The change of season and the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday are the perfect reason to refresh your home inside and out. Enhance your home decor with color and style that will welcome guests throughout the season.Accessorize Inside and Out
From the front door to your home’s most popular gathering spots, accessorize! Greet guests at your front door with a creative arrangement of pumpkins, gourds, cabbages and mums. Create inviting, warm spaces to relax and entertain throughout the interior of your home by putting away summer and early fall decor and adding new accents. Rich velvets, jewel toned pillows, wool like tapestry rugs and even new winter drapes will transform your home. Layer your fireplace mantle with candles and seasonal accents to create a focal point in your home.A Natural Tabletop Look to nature to inspire your fall tabletop. Burnt oranges, deep yellows, warm greens, plums and beautiful reds translate great from the outdoors to bring color into your home decor. Add dried or faux fruit such as cranberries, acorns, pomegranates or apples for a mix of color and texture to your table setting this season. ”
Rustic Luxe If your style is more chic, decorate for the season and create a warm, inviting space with rustic elements paired with metallic golds. Guests will want to linger long after the meal is served in this glamorous setting. DIY your own rustic luxe centerpiece with small sugar pumpkins and metallic paint and candles.

Fall has officially arrived and orange is undoubtedly the color of the season. From the new studio set of The Today Show, to our own Home of Distinction family room, orange is trending in home decor and there are many ways to introduce this color in your own home.
Orange decor and furnishings adds a vibrant energy but also creates a sense of warmth. These tips and photo inspiration will help you incorporate this seasons color into your home.
For a fresh fall look pair orange with beige, whites or yellows.
If you’re ready to commit to orange for more than one season, choose one of the many paint colors available.
Earthy orange pairs perfectly with cobalt blues, greys, deep plums, and teals and textures popular this season.
Orange looks great in bold fabrics and patterns including this seasons Ikat and animal prints.
If you’re only ready to experiment with color, choose pieces that don’t require a commitment – pillows and lampshades are a great choice.
The Avon Home of Distinction welcomed hundreds of visitors throughout September, showcasing the latest decor and home building trends. This luxury home built by Pecoy Signature Homes, took stylish, sophisticated living out of the pages of a magazine and into a real home. As the official interior decorator and home staging sponsor, the PJ & Company Home Styling team was inspired by the home’s architectural beauty. We collaborated with furniture partners to select furnishings that reflected our vision of a luxurious home with stylish, comfortable spaces for living and entertaining.
As a designer show house we introduced visitors to the hottest styles of the season they may not typically see in traditional New England homes – bold color, Asian influences and Hollywood glamour and sophistication.

It is hard to believe summer is over and it’s back to school time. After a busy summer, which included a once-in-a lifetime trip to France and London with my family — and reinforced my love for simple simple french country style — our team is gearing up for fall. We’re already busy working with clients to redecorate their homes as well as helping sellers stage their property for sale.
One of our most exciting projects is as the Official Interior Decorating and Home Staging Sponsor of the Home of Distinction, by Pecoy Signature Homes, that is also being promoted by Fox-TV, the Hartford Courant, Hartford Magazine and New Haven Living Magazine.
